Free Chrome extension
InstaPicker Chrome Extension
Pick Instagram giveaway winners from every comment. The extension reads all comments on a post or reel, even giveaways with 50,000+ comments, and InstaPicker picks fair, random winners with your filters.
Watch: install the extension and pick your winners
A short video that walks through installing the extension and running your first giveaway with it. The video shows the manual (.zip) install; from the Chrome Web Store it's even quicker: just click Add to Chrome.
Two ways to pick your winners
Every InstaPicker giveaway starts with the quick draw. If it can't read your post, or you want every comment counted, run the same giveaway with the extension. If one way fails, try the other.
Quick draw
- Works in any browser, including phones
- Nothing to install
- Reads a sample of the comments
- Best for small giveaways
Chrome extension
- Reads all comments, no limit
- Handles giveaways with 50,000+ comments
- Opens posts the quick draw can't reach
- Best for big giveaways and many winners
When to use the extension
The quick draw shows an error
Some posts and reels can't be read without an Instagram login. The extension uses yours, so the draw goes through.
Your post has thousands of comments
The extension reads every comment, so every entrant has a fair chance to win, not just a sample.
You are picking many winners
More comments mean more unique entrants to pick from, so you get the full number of winners you asked for.
How to install the extension
It takes a few seconds, and the Chrome Web Store keeps it up to date for you.
- Open the Chrome Web Store page. Click Add to Chrome on this page.
- Click "Add to Chrome", then "Add extension" in the box that appears.
- Accept the short notice that opens, then pin the extension from the puzzle-piece menu so it's easy to find.
Edge asks you to allow extensions from other stores first; Opera needs its "Install Chrome Extensions" add-on.
Installed the .zip version before? Open chrome://extensions, remove the InstaPicker Giveaway Assistant marked Unpacked extension, and use the Chrome Web Store version instead. Two copies can't run a draw at the same time.
Manual install (.zip)
Only if you can't use the Chrome Web Store, for example on a managed work computer. A .zip install doesn't update itself.
- Download the .zip. Download version 1.1.1 (34 KB) and save the file.
- Unzip it. Double-click the file (Mac) or right-click it and choose Extract All (Windows). You get a folder called
instapicker-chrome-extension. - Open the extensions page. Type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar and press Enter (edge://extensionsin Edge,brave://extensionsin Brave). - Turn on Developer mode with the switch in the top-right corner.
- Click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder (the one that contains
manifest.json). - Accept the short notice that opens. Keep the folder where it is: if you delete or move it, Chrome removes the extension.
How to pick winners with the extension
- Log in to Instagram in the same browser.
- Start your giveaway on InstaPicker as usual: paste the post or reel link, set the number of winners and your filters. Or open the post on Instagram, click the extension icon and choose Pick winners on InstaPicker; the link is filled in for you.
- Choose the extension. Tick Read every comment with the Chrome extension before you start, or click Run again with the extension if the quick draw shows an error.
- Keep the tab open while the comments are read. You'll see the count go up. Your winners appear when it's done.
What the extension does, and doesn't do
It does
- Read the comments of the post you choose
- Send those comments to InstaPicker to pick winners
- Read at a steady pace and stop if Instagram asks it to
It never
- Posts, comments, likes, follows or sends messages
- Shares your Instagram password or login with anyone
- Runs on its own: it only works when you start a draw
Note: Meta may restrict your Instagram account if it sees heavy activity. Use the extension at your own risk.
Frequently asked questions
Is the InstaPicker Chrome extension free?
Yes. The extension is free on the Chrome Web Store. Your InstaPicker account, free trial or plan works the same way it does for the quick draw.
How do I install it?
Open the InstaPicker Giveaway Assistant page on the Chrome Web Store, click "Add to Chrome", then "Add extension". It takes a few seconds and updates itself automatically.
When should I use the extension instead of the quick draw?
Use it when the quick draw shows an error for your post, when your giveaway has thousands of comments, or when you are picking many winners. The extension reads every comment, so every entrant has a fair chance.
Can it handle giveaways with 50,000+ comments?
Yes. There is no comment limit. Big posts take longer because the extension reads comments at a steady, human-like pace. Keep the InstaPicker tab open until your winners appear.
Do I need to be logged in to Instagram?
Yes. Log in to Instagram in the same Chrome browser. The extension reads comments the same way you would see them on Instagram, so it can also open posts the quick draw cannot reach.
Is my Instagram password or login shared with InstaPicker?
No. Your password and login never leave your browser. Only the comments of the post you choose are sent to InstaPicker to pick your winners.
Can Meta restrict my Instagram account?
Meta may restrict an Instagram account if it sees heavy activity. The extension only reads comments and paces itself, but you use it at your own risk.
Does it work in Edge, Brave or Opera?
Yes. Google Chrome and Brave install it straight from the Chrome Web Store. In Microsoft Edge, allow extensions from other stores when Edge asks. In Opera, add the "Install Chrome Extensions" add-on first. It does not work in Safari or Firefox, or on phones.
I installed the .zip version before. What should I do?
Switch to the Chrome Web Store version so you get updates automatically. Open chrome://extensions, remove the InstaPicker Giveaway Assistant marked "Unpacked extension", then click "Add to Chrome" on this page. If both are installed, InstaPicker will ask you to remove the old one before a draw.
Can I still install it from a .zip file?
Yes. If you cannot use the Chrome Web Store (for example on a managed work computer), use the manual install on this page. A .zip install does not update itself, so download the newest .zip when we release an update.
